Here at Rodney’s Grill, we pride ourselves on using sustainable products – from produce to seafood, we try to keep local and keep it sustainable. Sustainable food is a phrase we hear a lot but one that doesn’t always seem to have an easy and clear definition.
We like to say that sustainable agriculture is a production system that’s good for the environment and for people, that’s humane to animals and to food and farm workers, that supports thriving rural and urban communities. In other words, it’s the production of food, fiber, or other plant or animal products using techniques that protect the environment, public health, human communities, and animal welfare. It’s a way of food production that generates abundance while ensuring future generations can do the same. It is more than organic or GMO free, it is completely supportable.
That’s why we only use the best local vendors, farms and ranches that take pride in their businesses and pay their employees a living wage. In our experience the most sustainable food producers are family farmers and the family-owned businesses that have a personal connection to the land they work and the food they create. The best family farmers and ranchers see themselves as stewards of the land. They want that land to be healthy and productive when they pass it on to a new generation.
We invite you to stop by and try some of our amazing dishes made with local, sustainable products.
